Clinical Training Course Entry Requirements

These are the basic requirements for entry to a clinical training course. Knowing these in advance will save you from booking a course that you are not ready for.

Prior Knowledge Expected

Almost all of our Clinical Training Courses are designed for people with no prior clinical experience. They assume that students have a basic understanding of care roles and responsibilities. If you are new to the care sector, it would be helpful for you to complete a care induction or a mandatory training program before attending a clinical skills training course.

Literacy and Language Levels

Level of Literacy Required: Learners need sufficient English to read given material, to adhere to given instruction and to complete written assessment(s). Note: Where a learner speaks English as a second language, learners are advised to check with the training provider in advance to establish whether or not a particular course can be delivered in a supported format.

Role and Workplace Prerequisites

Workforce planning guidance for adult social care sets out useful benchmarks for role-based training requirements. Some Clinical Training Courses, in particular those which include training of clinical skills and on medication, are intended for learners who are currently employed in relevant health care and social care settings. Therefore on booking a place on a course the learner will be asked to provide details of their employer and for a line manager from the learner’s place of work to confirm the learner’s role and to confirm that they are in a suitable role for the course. ID and DBS Checks

Please bring the required identification on the day of your training (e.g. a photo ID). Some of our regulated clinical skills courses also require learners to have a valid DBS check prior to enrolment, so please check with the training provider when booking your place.
